22 March 2001 - Enhancements to the on-line purchasing system

It is now possible to purchase on-line:

  • License upgrades
  • Multiple Licences
  • Partner/Reseller purchases
  • Corporate purchases with agreed volume discount

as well as normal Fax2Send licenses.

Just email Fax2Send Sales with your requirements and we will email a Quotation and a link to the Purchase page pre-filled in with your Quotation details. Just complete the payment by credit card and your licenses will be emailed to you together with an invoice.

2 March 2001 - New Solaris Fax2Send 4 UNIX
We are in the process of back-porting Fax2Send to Unix. The first of these is available for Solaris (SPARC only). We have put a cooker version of V2.1-4 for Solaris on the FTP server and welcome feedback from anybody who would like to take part in the testing. MORE INFORMATION

A new help page format has been introduced answering commonly posed question such as "How do I use ISDN for faxing" GO THERE

23 February 2001 - Fax2Send Server V2.1-4 now available

The new version of Fax2Send server has now been moved from beta to full release status. For a full list of changes see the release page for more information, or go straight to the download page

New Features

  • Rings before modem answers incoming calls can now be set
  • Print Integration with CUPS (Common Unix Print System)

22 January 2001 - Fax2Send shipping with Linux-Mandrake

Fax2Send V2.1-3 is a standard part of the Linux-Mandrake 7.2 distribution.

1 January 2001 - New developments in the Fax2Send world

The Fax2Send team would like to wish you a happy and prosperous New Year. The Linux community continues to grow apace why not celebrate by trialling the best fax software for Linux - Fax2Send?

We will be making the following changes to the Fax2Send site:

  • Changes to the e-commerce site to enable muliple purchases to be made in one transaction. Currently only one license can be purchased in a single transaction. Any attempted purchase of an identical license within 10 minutes will be rejected to safeguard customers from unintended multiple purchases
  • New License Band - A new license band will soon be introduced for 10-users between the existing Workgroup (4-users) and Small Business (25-users) Editions. The projected price of this license is $150. This will be introduced with the changes to the e-commerce site (see above)
  • Partner program enhancements coming soon - A full VAR pack will be available soon which will contain:
    • VAR contract clearly stating what we will do for our resellers and what we expect of them
    • Password protected reseller web area wih additional information and the ability to purchase online at reseller rates and priority access to support services
    • Master CD containing a copy all Fax2Send material (server and client programs and artwork)
  • On-line response forms - On-line forms will soon be available to request support and academic licenses. When introduced the Fax2Send team will only respond to requests made using these forms. In part this will be introduced to enable us to respond in a more timely manner and avoid email requests for additional information to be provided
9 November 2000 - New Fax2Send server release V2.1.3

Following a successful beta release this has now become the production server version. Highlights are:

  • German translation of the user interface available to install
  • Toolbar animated icon - The status icon shows server status and modem activity
  • Pop-up tool tips now shown for X-Windows client button bars icons
  • Auto refresh of X-Windows client sent and received queue displays
  • KDE Desktop Panel - Monitor process started if desktop icon dragged onto the panel. Icon then shows modem status and activity
  • Received faxes now compressed to Group 4 standard. This solves the problem on some Linux distributions whereby the kfax image viewer no longer worked
  • Gnome Window Manager - Relative dialog boxes and background screen becomes managed window

1 November 2000 - FTP site re-established
There is now the option to download software either from the web site via the download pages or to go directly to the FTP site from the link on the navigation bar.
30 October 2000 - More organizations qualify for Free licenses

Non-profit making research organizations now qualify for Free licenses. Just as non-profit making acamdemic establishments can have Fax2Send free of charge, we have decided to help research establishments by also letting them have Fax2Send server free of charge. Just email us and we will send you a short text form to complete. Your Registration and license codes will be emailed by return.

28 October 2000 - Further slight changes to beta
The modem status and received fax indicators have been changed. The "Status" button has been changed to our Penguin in Flight and an indicator appears as a 'sun'. If it is green the modem is ready to use. If the 'sun' is flashing red the modem is in use. If it is a constant red, a fax has been received.
18 October 2000 - More features added to beta

We have added some additional features to the beta release. Added are notification of incoming faxes to the desktop of an X-Windows client user and activity light to show modem activity. The latter shows as a 'traffic light' on the modem icon shown on the status button of the xfax2send dialog box.

10 October 2000 - beta release of Fax2Send Server

V2.1.3b is available for download. This beta release enhances the X-Windows client by adding floating tools tips to the buttons on the xfax2send dialog box, the Status displays and the Compose Fax screen. The queue displays now also auto refreshh rather than having to update them manually.

28 September 2000 - Fax2Send Server V2.1 released
Fax2Send Server V2.1.2 launched. This brand new release introduces:
  • an easy to use Installation Wizard with sample fax header sheets, modem installation and testing and user wizard
  • Special tools to aid translation of all Fax2Send Server components, including the Installation Wizard, have been added to V2.1. Any company can now easily translate and make available Fax2Send in other languages
  • an updated X-Windows client with a brand new interface, server configuration tool, changes to the method of attachments and html help
  • changes to the user licensing with inclusion of loglink and fax batching for all licenses (previously Fax2Send Pro only)
  • a 30 day evaluation of the full product

Fax2Send server V2.1 is immediately available for Intel and x86 platforms as well as the Cobalt Qube2

15 September 2000 - Fax2Send with Mandrake distribution

Fax2Send Server V2.1 will ship as standard with the new Mandrake 7.0 distribution
