Installation Menu
Overview

Download the required components from the list below:

  • Fax2Send Server for Intel and x86 platforms: (rpm or tar formats). Both of these include the X-Windows client, printlink and email client interface.
  • Fax2Send Server for Cobalt Qube2: (tar format) This includes all of the above components but as X-Windows and tcl is not installed on this platform as standard, the installation runs from the command line and the X-Windows and printlink are not available. If the missing packages are installed and Fax2Send server re-installed all components will be available.
  • Fax2Send PC Client: Seperate versions for Windows 95/98/ME and Windows NT/2000
  • OCX: For integration with existing PC applications. This component is included in the above PC client download
  • Fax2Send Unix Clients: For all popular Unix distributions and Linux

The Server and Unix/Linux Client is gzipped, the PC Clients and OCX are zipped.

Server - Installation Wizard

Linux newbie or not technical? The server and components are installed by an Install Wizard so anybody can now install Fax2Send (SEE HOW EASY IT IS). Full installation instructions to launch the Installation Wizard are given on the download screen.

Translations

When the Installation Wizard is run it automatically checks whether other languages are available. If present these languages are presented on the initial screen. All screens are shown in the selected language. All server messages and labels are also in the selected language. (MORE INFORMATION)

PC Clients

Unzip the file to the Temp folder and double click on the Setup.exe - this will run the installshield to install the PC client. Follow the on-screen instructions.

After completing the installation run the config program:

START/Programs/Fax2Send/Configure

The "Configure Fax2Send" dialog box is launched:

Fax2Send server Host Name or - enter the network address of the Fax2Send server or server name (If a host file is present)

Port Number (normally 2001) - Leave this set to the default unless your systems administrator advises you to change it.

On the server add the Windows login name of the client as a user in the following format: Windows_login_name@PC_name (Example - Nik@sinope). The user is most easily added by using the config tool in the Fax2Send X-Windows client.

Load the Fax2Send PC client - START/Programs/Fax2Send/Fax2Send - You may like to consider putting a shortcut on the Windows desktop or putting an entry in the startup group. The former is achieved by right clicking on the desktop. The latter by going to START/Settings/Taskbar & Start Menu and selecting the Start Menu Programs tab then clicking on Add

Help for server components is provided in html format which can be viewed by selecting Help from the X-Windows client or opening the fax2help.html page which is in /root/tmp/fax2send/html/xx where xx = the language indicator (For example en for English)
