Server Download

Click on the "http" or "ftp" links to download a file. Check how to install by clicking on the "Installer" option. Note if using Netscape or Mozilla, or for rpm downloads any browser on a PC, then you will need to right-click, rather than left-click

Note: Fax2Send for Linux includes English German and Italian translations. If the Installation Wizard option is chosen the language to install can be chosen from the first screen

Click on the installer type for installation information

RPM ONLY: If using an MS Windows PC and have Netscape, RealPlayer or RealJukeBox installed, you will need to right-click and use "Save As" to download using the HTTP link

GLIBC: Most Linux distributions now ship with Glibc 2.2 downloads 1 and 2 above expect this library version to be installed.

Installation Instructions for Linux using the Fax2Send Installation Wizard

From a terminal window....

  1. Save the download file to a temporary directory such as /tmp
  2. cd /tmp
  3. tar zxvf name of downloaded file
  4. cd fax2send (/tmp/fax2send)
  5. ./install

If X-Windows is installed the Installation Wizard will automatically launch to guide you through the rest of the process including choosing what features to install, testing your modem, prompting you for the name and address of your company and allowing you to choose the cover sheet style you wish to use.

If X-Windows is not installed (or your TERM variable is not set to X11) then the install will run from the command line

Using the KDE File Manager...

  1. Download the file to /root or /tmp
  2. Change directory to the location of the download using the file manager
  3. Right click on the downloaded file
  4. Left-click on Archiver from the pop-up menu
  5. Left click 0n File
  6. Left click on Extract To
  7. Check /root is shown in the Destination box
  8. If "/root" shown left click on Preserve Permissions. If not over type "Destination box" entry with /root.
  9. Click on OK
  10. Using the file manager navigate to /root/fax2send
  11. Left-click on install
  12. Follow the instructions onscreen

Using the Gnome File Manager...

  1. Download the file to /root or /tmp

  3. Right click on the downloaded file
  4. Left-click on Archiver from the pop-up menu

Notes:

For Linux versions - the server download includes an X-Windows Client.

All versions of the server include the Fax2Send Shell API that enables developers to integrate their Linux and Unix applications with Fax2Send.

Patch Files can be downloaded for minor version changes. Full upgrades are available for some versions.
