MS Windows Client Download
- The
MS Windows Client requires a Fax2Send Server in order to operate
- Fax2Send
PC Client download files are in .EXE" (self extracting zip) format
- Five
languages are available at present: English, French, German, Italian
and Romanian. If you would like the PC Client in another language,
please see HERE
if you feel that you may be able to translate the text files
Installing the MS Windows Client Download
- Double-click on the downloaded file to launch the set up.
- Follow the on-screen instructions
- After installation is complete you will need to restart Windows
(Windows 95 & 98 only).
- After restarting Windows run the configuration tool from Start/Programs/Fax2Send/Configure
.
- In the "Fax2Send server Host Name" box Enter the network address of
the Fax2Send server or host name if you have a DNS server (Example -
192.168.0.1 or starburst)
- Ask your Fax2Send administrator to add you to the Fax2Send user list
(see below).
Adding a MS Windows Client User to the Fax2Send Server User List
All Fax2Send users need to be registered in the fax2Send user list
on the server (apart from Enterprize Edition copies).
- Run Fax2Send on the PC: start/programs/fax2send/fax2send
- A message such as "some_user@some_host is not registered to use
Fax2Send".
- On the Fax2Send server add the line some_user@some_host to the file
/etc/fax2send/userlist. Note that the line should read exactly as
the message did on the PC and is case sensitive.
- Restart Fax2Send on the server to load the new user list.
NOTE
To
uninstall the Fax2Send PC Client it is necessary to use Regedit and
delete the Beacon directories which are found in the \Software sections.
Then delete the directory \Program Files\Beacon and finally the FAX2SEND
printer from START\Printers
If you are running V2.1-6
DO NOT run the un-install program for Fax2Send. We always used the UnistallShield
to provide a management system to safely un-install the Fax2Send PC
Client. This has always worked well in the past but for reasons not
understood after V2.1-5 this resulted in the deletion of important DLL's
which may prevent a PC from restarting correctly. For this reason the
un-install log file and icon have been removed from V2.1-7 and later
versions.
